This is one of the longest walks on the Camino Frances at over 34 kilometers. However, most of this day will be easy as there is no big climbing to do except one right at the beginning of the day.
First bigger village you will reach today is Castrojeríz, ten kilometers from Hontanas. This village is fortified for over one thousand years. The Church of San Juan is a fortified gothic church while the Iglesia de Santo Domingo has a museum of medieval religious art.
After another ten kilometers the next village is Itero de la Vega. Half an hour before the village you will find an albergue where you can get water though.
Boadilla del Camino is located 8.5 kilometers away from Itero de la Vega. You can find in this village a bar as well a 16th century church.
From here on, there are less than six kilometers to Fromista, a pleasant walk along a canal. Fromista is a bigger village with more albergues, bars and cafes. St Elmo, the patron saint of sailors was born here in 1190 and his statue can be found in the main square. The Church of Saint Martin (iglesia de San Martín de Tours) is a beautiful church that was first mentioned in 1066.
On this stage you are going towards Frómista either from Hornillos del Camino either from Hontanas, depending if you have split this route into 2 or 3 stages. Below you will see the two maps which will show all the stops between Hornillos del Camino through Hontanas ending in Frómista.
