Ledigos

This village is located 54 kilometers from the provincial capital of Palencia and about halfway between Carrion de Los Condes and Sahagun. The name of the village, Ledigos comes from the Latin Letificus, the place or village of Mr. Letifico.

Doña Urraca, the Empress of León and Castile, donated this town to the Church of Compostela in the 9th century.

Despite having less than 100 inhabitants, there are 3 Albergues in Ledigos as many pilgrims opt to stay here instead of doing the whole route to Sahagun.

Iglesia Paroquial de Santiago Apostol

This is a small but beautiful church with depictions of Santiago.

It has altarpieces from the XVII and XVIII centuries. The current belfry is a modern brick construction since the original bell tower collapsed in the XXth century.

It is located on a hill, with great views of the Camino de Santiago.
