Hontanas

Hontanas is a small village located in the province of Burgos in the autonomous community of Castilla y León

It is situated on the Camino Frances and its name comes after its numerous fountains. As a result of its location on the pilgrimage route, Hontanas has a rich history and has been an important stop for pilgrims for centuries.

The very small village has some well-preserved medieval architecture, including the Parroquia de la Inmaculada Concepción from the 14th century as well as the Hospital de San Juan, a 13th-century hospital, that today serves as an Albergue.
