Mansilla de las Mulas is located on the banks of the Esla river from 17 km to León.
The town is located between the leonine mounts and Tierra de Campos, perhaps this is the reason for always being an important commercial center in the zone. It is of Roman origin but it developed partly because of its important role on the Camino de Santiago. Today, Mansilla de las Mulas still retains its medieval urban structure and part of the walled enclosure.
Its medieval town wall with 4 gates was well restored. The town’s significance is shown by a large number of refugees and churches found here.
Churches to provide services are Santa María and Nuestra Señora de la Gracia. The route enters the South and crosses an old stone bridge in the North.
