From Mansilla de la Mulas, some pilgrims make a little detour to visit the Monastery of San Miguel de Escalante and continue to Puente Villarente only afterward.
The village is located near the bridge passing over the river Parma. The 16th-century refuge building founded by Arcediano de Triacastela is worth visiting.
