Leaving Torres del Rio via NA-1110 route, you will soon arrive to the village of Virgen del Poyo. After a two hour walk you will reach the town of Viana where you can find two palaces: one in Plaza de los Fueros and the other in Plaza del Coso. The gothic church of Santa Maria de la Asuncion was built between 1250 and 1329.
The second part of the day will be spent by walking from Viana to Logroño, the capital of the state of La Rioja. Logroño is the second largest city on the Camino Frances and it has a lot to offer to the pilgrim. The Cathedral of Santa Maria la Redonda dates back to the 15th century features a painting by Michelangelo that shows the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
