Although the distance you will walk today is only 20 kilometers, it will be mostly uphill and can be quite tiring especially if the weather is hot.
Soon after you leave Astorga you reach the tiny village of Valdeviejas where there is one Albergue. Three kilometers on you encounter the village of Murias de Rechivaldo, where a church dedicated to San Esteban is located.
Next, you will head to the small village of Santa Catalina de Somoza and then to El Gamso where a cowboy bar is the main attraction of the village. The bar is well worth visiting and the food is quite good.
The last village is Rabanal del Camino where you can find the great albergue run by the Confraternity of Saint James. This Albergue is built on the site of a 12th-century Hospital of San Gregorio and the current building is nicely restored.
